Detailed Description

About the Book:

Taqlid constitutes one of the key discussions within the principles of Islamic jurisprudence. Although it is commonly addressed toward the end of works on usül al-fiqh, its significance is profound, given that laypersons rely on qualified jurists for religious rulings, since not all Muslims possess the expertise required for independent legal reasoning.

Taqlid is a long-standing issue in Islamic law that has sparked debate among jurists and non-jurists alike. Proponents and opponents have embroiled a lot in this discourse, it is discussed widely in academic circles, much ink has been spilt, and many debates have taken place, yet this issue remains vexed till today. Accordingly, a dire need was felt to pursue a study on taqlid; its ruling and its status in the light of Sacred Scriptures and juristic discourse, and analyse the arguments advanced both by the proponents and opponents. This book represents an effort to mitigate the division that persists among Muslims regarding this matter, with the hope that it will be approached with openness and that its arguments and conclusions will not be dismissed out of predisposition or bias.
